Qualifying Life Event (QLE)

Current Towne Park Associates Experiencing a Qualifying Life Event (QLE): A Qualifying Life Event (QLE) is a life change that allows you to enroll in, change, or cancel your benefits coverage outside of the standard annual open enrollment period. If you have experienced an instance that would qualify as a QLE, you have 30 days from the date of the event to apply and if approved, elect your benefits through Workday. Please note that documentation may be required to provide the event (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificate, termination letter).

Common Qualifying Life Events Include:

  • Change in family status: Marriage or divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or death of a spouse or dependent

  • Loss or gain of other coverage: Losing coverage due to a spouse's job loss, gaining eligibility for other coverage (e.g., becoming eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare), or end of COBRA coverage

  • Change in residence: Moving to a new area where your current plan is not offered

  • Other notable events: Change in a dependent's status (e.g., aging out) or significant cost or coverage changes in a spouse's plan
